**A warning to dog owners in Taunton — please be careful which vet you choose\.** I want to give a situation regarding my dog’s eye, after I was charged twice for treatment\. My dog cut his eye open and unfortunately the 3 stitches they put in failed. So I went back to the vets, and they charged me for the 2nd operation At the time, I happily paid both bills, even though I was told I was welcome to shop around\. But that was beside the point — my dog had a ripped eye and needed treatment, so I trusted the vet and proceeded with the second set of stitches and the second payment\. Afterwards, I contacted Citizens Advice\. They agreed that, if the vet had to put additional stitches in and provide a new, larger cone during the second visit, it raised a serious question about whether everything that should have been done during the first procedure had actually been done correctly\. I put my concerns in writing to the vets\. Initially, they refused to accept responsibility and blamed the problem on the cone I had purchased from Pets at Home to get my dog through the night\. If the qualified vet had told me that the cone was not suitable and that my dog needed a bigger one, I would have followed that advice without hesitation\. Eventually, they reluctantly refunded me for the 2nd discounted procedure. However, because I challenged what happened and held them accountable, I have now been given notice that they will no longer treat me or my dogs, apparently because there is a “lack of trust”\. Ironic, really, because I trusted them to carry out what I believed was a basic procedure to stitch my dog’s eye — and after what happened, it is **my** trust in them that has been lost\. I also have concerns about the second procedure itself\. It was carried out on the floor in the area where examinations take place, and as soon as my dog woke up from being anaesthetised, he was sent home with me\. I am sharing my experience because I don’t want another dog owner to find themselves in the same position\. **Ask questions, speak up if something doesn’t feel right, and don’t be afraid to challenge things when it concerns your animal’s health and welfare\.** This is my personal experience and I am sharing it so other dog owners can make informed decisions about who they trust with their pets\. Please be careful when choosing a vet in Taunton\.

Get you pets fixed here when they break. I thought my hamster had broke, but it turned out he just needed a slight change of diet and of course, more cuddles. I’m glad to say he’s as right as rain now.
